FlashURL tm is a "flash" URL shortener service. A flash URL is a URL that redirects to another site after a preset amount of time (e.g., 10 seconds). The Flash URL service is, however, so much more than just a URL shortening application. The mission of Flash URL is to help the user safely navigate the Web. We are advocates of safe web browsing, in general. FlashURL is a safe URL shrotener Web service. We are currently in the development phase. If you are interested in helping us with upcoming beta testing and providing your opinions, please let us know at info@flashurl.com. Your feedback and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Note 1: A beta release has just been deployed to http://mq.ms/. It still lacks many features which we'd like to add eventually (e.g., with respect to "safe Web browsing"), but it's fully functional as far as URL shortening is concerned. And, the data is not "beta". Any URLs created on the current site will be preserved through the general release (which is TBD, at this point). Please check it out and let us know if you have any suggestions or comments (positive or negative). Thanks! Note 2: Many people use Chrome URL shortener extension, http://z.mq.ms/flashurl. The most recent release (as of this writing) is version 1.3.4, and it has been very stable (no known bugs). Please note that the flash time is currently hard-coded to 10 seconds if you use the Chrome extension. A Flash URL Shortener bookmarklet will be provided, in the near future, for other Browsers. |
